Chaika requests U.S. documents, material needed for inquest into Lesin's death

MOSCOW. March 11 (Interfax) - Russia's Prosecutor General Yury Chaika has sent a request to United States Secretary of Justice and Attorney General Loretta Lynch, concerning the death of Russia's former minister Mikhail Lesin, said Saak Karapetyan, head of the main department of international legal cooperation at the Russian Prosecutor General's Office.

"Today Yury Chaika sent a request to his U.S. counterpart asking to provide documents and materials necessary for investigating the causes and circumstances of the death of Mikhail Lesin," Karapetyan told Interfax on Friday.

"The request was sent in accordance with the U.S.-Russian agreement on mutual assistance in criminal inquiries, because until now, the cause of death has neither been established, nor communicated to the concerned individuals," the prosecution official said.
