Belarusian media report arrest of influential businessman Yury Chyzh

MINSK. March 12 (Interfax) - One of the most influential businessmen in Belarus, Triple Group owner Yury Chyzh has been arrested by law enforcement agencies, informed sources told Belarusian website tut.by.

Chyzh was arrested by the State Security Committee, the sources said.

"Nothing was happening without sanctions of the head of state. But Chyzh has been out of favor for several months," an informed source said. He said the businessman is suspected for organizing fraudulent schemes and moving capital abroad.

Neither the Belarusian law enforcement agencies, nor the businessman's companies have commented on his arrest.

Chyzh is a well-known Belarusian businessman, the owner of Triple Group. The businessman is said to be one of the main sponsors of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

Chyzh has been banned from traveling to the European Union by the EU Council.
