Hmeimim airbase technical staff preparing planes for flight back to their home airfields in Russia - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. March 15 (Interfax) - The technical staff of Russia's Hmeimim airbase have started to prepare airplanes for the long-distance flight back to their home airfields in Russia.

The Russian Defense Ministry's press service has reported that "the personnel are currently loading equipment, logistics support means and property onto military-transport airplanes."

The airplanes will fly from the Hmeimim airbase back to their home airfields in Russian territory in air echelons, to be accompanied by military-transport airplanes, the press service said.

"When performing their long-haul flight to a distance of more than 5,000 kilometers, the airplanes will make stopovers at airfields in the Russian Federation to refuel and undergo technical checkups," it said.
