New Russian weapons successfully tested in drills, Syria - Putin

MOSCOW. March 17 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin is happy with the performance of Russian weapons in the Syria operation.

"Modern Russian weapons have successfully passed tests not just on training ranges but also in real life, in combat. This is the strictest, hardest test," Putin told Russian Armed Forces servicemen in the Kremlin on Thursday.

"This experience will help us make necessary adjustments, improve the efficiency and reliability of hardware, create next-generation weapons, upgrade the Armed Forces, and foster their combat potential," the president said.

"Life has shown that this is a guarantee of solid security of our country. We must remember about threats which emerge whenever we fail to do something on time, we must remember history lessons, the tragic events of the early days of WWII, the Great Patriotic War, and the cost of flawed military development and planning, the deficit of new military hardware. Everything must be done on time, and weakness, disorganization and neglect are always dangerous," the president said.
