DPR leader insists on holding Donbas elections based on OSCE standards rather than Ukrainian legislation

DONETSK. March 18 (Interfax) - The local elections in Donbas should be held in line with the standards of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) rather than Ukrainian legislation, the leader of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Alexander Zakharchenko, said when answering a question from Interfax.

"We have insisted and continue to insist that the elections should be held based on OSCE standards. This standard suits both us and Europe. But the elections here cannot be held in line with Ukraine's legislation. I am categorically against it," Zakharchenko said.
