Russia reduces palm oil imports by 22% in Jan to 50,600 tonnes

MOSCOW. March 21 (Interfax) - Russia reduced imports of palm oil and its fractions by 22.2% year-on-year in January 2016 to 50,600 tonnes, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said on Monday.

In comparison with December, palm oil supplies fell by 46.7% in January.

In 2015 Russia increased palm oil imports by 25.8% in comparison with 2014 to 889,000 tonnes, in particular in January imports rose 30.6%.

Rosstat also said that import of coconut (copra) oil, including babassu oil, to the Russian market increased by 36.8% year-on-year in January 2016 to 4,900 tonnes.

The import of sunflower and cottonseed oil fell by 11.1% to 100 tonnes.
