List of Kazakh parliamentarians from Nazarbayev's led party approved
ASTANA. March 24 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev attended a meeting of the bureau of the political council of the Nur Otan party, which he leads, the presidential press service reported on Thursday.
The meeting addressed the outcome of the party's participation in the March 20 parliamentary elections, and determined the distribution of deputy mandates in the lower chamber of parliament between the candidates included in the party list, the report says.
"Nursultan Nazarbayev pointed out that the approved list of candidates meets all of the requirements and criteria, and is balanced from the point of view of regional, social, and professional representation. The Kazakh president emphasized that parliamentarians will represent in the parliament the country's leading political force, the Nur Otan party," the report said.
On Tuesday, the Kazakh Central Elections Commission announced the final outcome of the voting in the elections to the lower chamber of the Kazakh parliament. According to the announced information, the ruling party Nur Otan received 82.20% of the votes in the elections (6.18 million voters). The left-wing and right-wing opposition received comparable amounts of votes. Specifically, the right-wing party Ak Zhol, which is also called a political force campaigning for the interests of business, received 7.18 % (540,406 votes) and the Communist People's Party received 7.14% (537,123 votes).
