Czech Republic's Unistav Construction to build synthetic fiber plant in Ivanovo region

MOSCOW. March 25 (Interfax) - CJSC Ivanov Polyester Complex and Czech Republic's Unistav Construction a.s signed a contract on the construction of a synthetic fiber plant in the Ivanov region, the Ivanovo regional government's press service said.

The document was signed in Prague as part of the ninth meeting of the Russian-Czech intergovernmental commission for economic, industrial, scientific and technological cooperation, chaired by Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov and Czech Industry and Trade Minister Jan Mladek.

On January 27, 2016, the Ivanovo region presented a project for the development of a textile industrial cluster costing 45 billion rubles at the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

During the event, the Ivanovo region governor, Pavel Konkov, said that the construction of the plant with production of up to 200,000 tonnes of polyester fiber and PET granulate a year in the region was aimed at overcoming the textile industry's dependence on commodity imports.

The construction and investment company, Unistav a.s., according to information on its website, has for 20 years implemented over 180 projects in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia and Ukraine. Among the construction projects were commercial centers (IKEA, Tesco, Avion), medical centers, hotels, housing, hospitals, banks and large industrial facilities. In Russia, Unistav operates through JSC Unistav A.S., which is based in St. Petersburg.
