Russia maintains permanent contact with various Kurdish reps, based on unity of Syria - Deputy Foreign Minister Bogdanov

MOSCOW. March 25 (Interfax) - All representatives of Syrian Kurds have to be committed to the principle of the unity of Syria and put common Syrian interests over ethnic and sectarian ones, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said.

"Kurds have a variety of approaches and views [...]. They ought to proceed from the notion that there is a united Syrian people and one nation that mustn't be taken to pieces," he told reporters on Friday.

"Our mission is to help them reach common ground, find the common denominator in their approaches, thus making the national, common Syrian interests prevail over all other approaches, partisan or ethnic and sectarian ones," Bogdanov added.

Moscow is in permanent contact with the Kurds and not only with the Kurdish Democratic Union Party, but also with other parties and organizations, according to Bogdanov.
