Medvedev expresses condolences to Pakistani PM in relation to Lahore tragedy
MOSCOW. March 28 (Interfax) - Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has expressed condolences to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, in relation to the terrorist act in Lahore which took dozens of lives, mainly women and children, the government website reported on Monday.
"On behalf of the government of the Russian Federation and myself, I express sincere condolences in relation to the massive loss of life in the terrorist attack in the city of Lahore. Women and children died, hundreds of people were wounded as a result of this horrible crime. I condemn the barbaric acts of terrorists that cannot be justified in any way," said the message from Medvedev.
It also said that the Russian prime minister "is convinced of the need for active joint efforts to resist the threats of terrorism and extremism."
The Sunday explosion in Lahore killed 72 people, and injured several hundred. A group of Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack.
