While visiting Moscow, CIA director discussed ceasefire in Syria, reaffirmed U.S. opinion on need for Assad to go - spokesperson
WASHINGTON. March 29 (Interfax) - Central Intelligence Agency Director John Brennan's visit to Russia, in March, was aimed at raising awareness of Russian officials on the importance of the observance of the ceasefire agreements in Syria by the Russian military and the Syrian government led by President Bashar al-Assad, CIA Spokesperson Dean Boyd told Interfax on Tuesday.
While visiting Moscow, the CIA director also expressed the U.S. government's consistent support for the process of a true political transition in Syria, and the need for President Assad to step down to make the transition process easier, which is consistent with the Syrian people's will, Boyd said.
