Interior Ministry confirms policeman's death, injury of another two officers in car explosions in Dagestan
MOSCOW. March 30 (Interfax) - The Interior Ministry has confirmed the death of a police officer and the injury of another two men in the explosion of ministry vehicles in Dagestan, the Dagestani Interior Ministry press service told Interfax.
"One police officer was killed and another two suffered injuries as two vehicles of the Russian Interior Ministry's temporary operative group in the Republic Dagestan were blown up on the 831st kilometer of the Caucasus federal highway at 8:10 p.m. today," the press service said on Tuesday evening.
An investigative team is working on the incident scene; operative measures are being taken.
The regional law enforcement authorities told Interfax earlier that an Ural truck was blown up on an exit to Uitash airport near Kaspiysk.
Another police source told Interfax the convoy consisted of two UAZ vehicles and an Ural truck carrying police officers assigned from Krasnoyarsk. They were en route from a Makhachkala police post to their base in Kaspiysk.
