Militia conducts 68 attacks on Ukrainian army positions, including by use of 120mm mortars, tube artillery, on Tuesday - Kyiv
KYIV. March 30 (Interfax) - The militia has conducted 68 attacks on Ukrainian army positions in the past 24 hours, including by use of weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements, the army operation press center has said.
"In the reporting period [from 6 a.m. on Tuesday till 6 a.m. on Wednesday], Ukrainian servicemen stationed near Zaitseve and Avdiivka came under 22 attacks using forbidden weapons. More than 250 mines were fired by the hostiles from 82mm and 120mm mortars on our positions," the press center wrote on Facebook on Wednesday morning.
The militia used 152mm tube artillery systems near Zaitseve, it said.
According to the press center, the militia shelled Ukrainian army positions near Mayorsk, Opytne, Novhorodske, Luhanske, Leninske and Nevelske.
Ukrainian army positions were attacked with small arms, grenade launchers and large-caliber machineguns near Talakivka, Vodyane and Starohnativka and with mortars near Shyrokyne in the Mariupol sector.
An automatic grenade launcher shelled Ukrainian army positions in Novozvanivka and a sniper was active in Shchastya in the Luhansk region.
The Ukrainian army had to return fire 20 times by use of small arms and grenade launchers in order to hold their positions, the press center said.
