Federation Council's Ozerov says Russia, NATO may restore contacts on certain conditions
MOSCOW. March 31 (Interfax) - Federation Council Defense Committee Chairman Viktor Ozerov says that Russia is ready to resume interaction with NATO in the event that the alliance abstains from aggressive actions.
"If there is trust with NATO countries, the third and fourth position areas of the missile defense network are not deployed and NATO infrastructures do not spread towards Russian borders, we will once again realize the importance of the Russia-NATO Council functioning on the principle of 'joint evaluation, joint decisions and joint responsibility'," Ozerov told foreign military attaches on Thursday.
Russia is interested in dialogue with NATO because certain issues need to be resolved together, and the negotiations should be conducted by diplomats, he said.
