Russia wants soonest closure of Intl Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia - Lavrov
MOSCOW. April 1 (Interfax) - Moscow has called for the soonest closure of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) based in the Hague, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday.
"We stand for its soonest closure," he said at a press conference in Moscow.
"The decision has already been made," the minister said.
"There is a period when a residual mechanism will be working, but it should also end as soon as possible," Lavrov said.
Moscow observes "a significant degree of politicization in ICTY activity," he said.
