Azerbaijan won't take part in negotiations for the sake of negotiations - President Aliyev

BAKU. April 3 (Interfax) - Azeri President Ilham Aliyev said the Azeri Armed Forces have delivered the most destructive strike on the Armenian troops since the ceasefire regime took effect in 1994.

"I believe April 2 will be a good lesson to them," Aliyev told the Security Council meeting.

"If the Armenian soldiers don't want to die, they should leave the Azeri land. We don't take over foreign land. The Armenians on the occupied territories have destroyed all our historical and religious monuments, our mosques, museums, cemeteries, have stolen all valuable things. The criminals who now sit in their offices committed genocide in Khojaly," the president said.

At the same time, the president reiterated that Azerbaijan favors a peaceful solution to the conflict. "However, now [that the conflict has escalated] we are not going to take part in negotiations for the sake of negotiations," Aliyev said.

"We don't want Azeri and Armenian mothers to cry for their dead sons. But we demand our rights," Aliyev said.
