DPR Defense Ministry observes over 440 Ukrainian army attacks over past day
DONETSK. April 5 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has observed 442 Ukrainian army attacks over the past day.
"Tensions have escalated in the Donetsk People's Republic. The Ukrainian army has conducted 442 attacks on DPR territory over the past day," Eduard Basurin, a senior representative of the DPR Defense Ministry, told reporters on Tuesday.
The Ukrainian army fired 253 82mm and 120mm mortar mines and 36 tank projectiles, he said.
"The shelling by use of weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements was most intense in Zaitseve, Spartak, Trudovske, Donetsk airport, Yasynuvata, Kominternove and Sakhanka," Basurin said.
Two servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been detained in the DPR, he said. "We detained Ukrainian army servicemen - Sergeant Rodovets born in 1973 and Private Kushpil born in 1986 from the fourth company, a mortar platoon of the 57th brigade - in the town of Mayorsk yesterday. They were drunk and driving a ZIL truck along the Artemivsk-Mayorsk road. These are not the first Ukrainian servicemen who have lost their way," Basurin said.
