Minsk wants Karabakh conflict resolved on intl law basis
MINSK. April 5 (Interfax) - The conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh ought to be settled through negotiations and in line with the principles of international law, Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei told reporters in Minsk on Tuesday.
"Our attitude to the events taking place in the Nagorno-Karabakh district is straightforward: we are categorically opposed to the use of military force. Rather, we want the situation to be settled at the negotiating table on the basis of existing and generally recognized principles of international law," Makei said.
Hopefully, the discussion on the situation surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh within the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Minsk Group in Vienna will allow "the dynamics and the density of the conflict to start to subside," he said.
