Zara, IKEA, Benetton, others consider locating production in Russia - ministry
MOSCOW. April 5 (Interfax) - Zara, IKEA, Benetton, Decathlon and Sportmaster, against the backdrop of the ruble devaluation, are thinking about locating production inside Russia, Deputy Industry and Trade Minister and State Secretary Viktor Yevtukhov told journalists.
"Zara has taken up development of this issue, because it is making a decision on locating production and orders on the territory of one or another state. The company's home office is in Spain. We met with the general director of the Russian office. He said that he forwards all proposals to the home office. We are preparing proposals on our part, providing a selection of enterprises ready for one or another type of their production and the list of all measures of support for foreign companies that place their orders there," he said.
"As for IKEA, they are planning in the near future for up to 40% of the production that they sell, to be placed at our enterprises. In addition, the IKEA managers that were here said they were beginning to export the linen production they buy [here]. That pleases us," he said.
"We are negotiating with other companies, with Decathlon, with Sportmaster, and with Benetton there is a meeting tomorrow, we will hold talks," Yevtukhov said. "We want to interest them in locating production in Russia. Given the ruble devaluation, I believe that we have pretty good prospects," he said, adding: "There are no time limits."
