EU isolates itself from Eurasian integration by imposing sanctions on Russia - Naryshkin
BISHKEK. April 8 (Interfax) - The European Union and Eurasian economic integration structures will definitely develop close relations at some point, State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin has said.
"Speaking of the European Union, it has actually isolated itself from Eurasian integration processes by imposing unlawful sanctions. Yet, the logic of efficient economic cooperation in Grand Eurasia will sooner or later unite the European Union with the EEU, the Silk Road Economic Belt and ASEAN countries," Naryshkin said at an international forum, 'Eurasian Economic Perspective', in Bishkek on Friday.
Parliaments are bound to play a role in that process, he said.
Naryshkin reminded the audience about the Russian-Korean parliamentary initiative in which he and South Korean parliament speaker Chung Eui-hwa proposed to hold the first conference of Eurasian parliament speakers in Moscow on April 19.
"We can see that this initiative has won broad support from our Eurasian partners - parliamentarians," the speaker said.
