Northern Sea Route to be useful for transporting goods between Europe, Asia - Lavrov

MOSCOW. April 12 (Interfax) - The Northern Sea Route will prove useful for transiting goods between Europe and Asia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an interview with Mongolian, Japanese and Chinese media outlets.

Russia is keen to make the Arctic a territory of dialogue and cooperation, he said.

"More active use of the Northern Sea Route is objectively happening because the Russian Federation is taking necessary measures to make it as convenient and comfortable as possible. The popularity of this route is growing. I think, in the future, it will be a very useful, efficient route for transiting goods between Europe and Asia," Lavrov said.
