World market for building nuclear plants recovered from Fukushima disaster - Rosatom CEO

MOSCOW. April 13 (Interfax) - The world market for construction of nuclear power plants has recovered from the meltdown at the Fukushima NPP in Japan, the CEO of Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom, Sergei Kiriyenko said at the opening of Rosatom's International Forum on Knowledge Management.

"The world nuclear market has not just recovered from Fukushima, by the amount of orders and amount of generating units being built it exceeds what was before Fukushima. But the geography has changed radically," Kiriyenko said.

Before the main customers were developed countries, but now it is developing countries, he said.

"Right now, the center of development of global nuclear energy has shifted to developing countries, where the possibility of guaranteed access to cheap, reliable sources of energy is a key condition of development," Kiriyenko said.
