Armenian-Russian alliance is not just words - Yerevan

YEREVAN. April 14 (Interfax) - Relations between Armenia and Russia do not fit the logic of a business relationship, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian has said.

Azerbaijan's acquisition of weapons from Russia "has become a subject of heated debates," he said in an interview with the Armenian Public Television on Wednesday.

"There is an opinion that this is mere business. I do not know whether I should accept this argument or not; in fact, Armenian-Russian relations are not a business relationship. This alliance is not just words; it rests upon laws and agreements. This is obvious to everyone, including Azerbaijan," the Armenian foreign minister said.

"Azerbaijan is not the host of a Russian military base, Azerbaijan is not a CSTO member and, in contrast to Armenia, Azerbaijan does not have dozens of agreements with Russia in the defense and military-technical fields. Azerbaijan did not sign the Fifth Protocol," Nalbandian said.
