Baku accuses Armenian military of committing 110 truce breaches in past 24 hours

BAKU. April 15 (Interfax) - Armenia's Armed Forces have violated the truce along the contact line between the Azerbaijani and Armenian Armed Forces 110 times in the past 24 hours, using 60mm mortars, grenade launchers and large-caliber submachine guns, the press service of Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry reported on Friday.

According to it, the Armenian Armed Forces opened fire on Azerbaijani positions both from the territory of Armenia and from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.

Taking account of the operational situation, Azerbaijan's Armed Forces carried out 118 strikes against enemy positions, Baku said.

Tensions in the Karabakh conflict zone abruptly escalated in the small hours of April 2. Hostilities engaging aircraft and artillery began. The sides traded accusations of the breach of ceasefire along the contact line, as well as claiming the adversary's substantial losses and limited losses of their own.

On April 5, Baku and Stepanakert, the capital of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, announced that an agreement had been reached to cease fire in the Karabakh conflict area from midday local time.

On April 14, a spokesperson for the Armenian Defense Ministry said that 92 people, including civilians, were killed in the escalation of the conflict with Azerbaijan on April 2- 5. Azerbaijan confirmed the deaths of 31 servicemen.
