Karabakh's engagement in negotiations to help resolve problem - Armenian Foreign Ministry
YEREVAN. April 15 (Interfax) - The engagement of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) in the negotiating process will help the Karabakh settlement, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan has said.
"The OSCE Minsk Group cochairmen believe that Nagorno-Karabakh should get involved in the negotiating process at some point; they think it could be the stage of drafting a peace agreement. Yet the latest events [in the Karabakh conflict zone] have shown that the sooner Karabakh engages in the negotiations, the more efficient the negotiating process will be," Kocharyan told reporters on Friday.
The military assistance agreement between Armenia and the NKR is being coordinated, the deputy minister said. "This process will not last for long, he added.
Media reports regarding the Armenian protest to Israel in connection with arms deliveries are untrue, he said. "This is imaginary information," the Armenian deputy foreign minister said.
Azerbaijan does not deem the self-proclaimed Nagorno-Karabakh Republic to be a party to the conflict and objects to its involvement in the settlement negotiations.
