Luhansk militia, Ukrainian army trade shelling accusations

LUHANSK/KYIV. April 21 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian army shelled positions of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) militia near the village of Kalynivka on Thursday morning, the LPR defense ministry said.

"Militia positions near Kalynivka came under attack of 120mm mortars. The shelling was coming from the urban-type settlement of Luhanske," the Luhansk information center said on Thursday, with reference to the LPR militia.

There is no information about casualties, the report said.

In turn, the press service of the Luhansk regional military-civilian administration reported that the militia's machineguns fired on a bridge near Shchastya and mortars shelled the Troitske vicinity on Wednesday evening.

"The enemy's machineguns were firing upon the bridge near Shchastya at about 10 p.m. on April 20. In addition, 120mm mortars shelled the area of the Troitske village in the Popasna district at about 9 p.m.," the report said.

"There are no casualties or damage. The opening of checkpoints for Easter and remembrance days still depends on the militants' compliance with the truce in the Luhansk region," head of the Luhansk region military-civilian administration Heorhiy Tuka has said.
