Russia to approve ecological safety strategy to 2025 this year - Patrushev

MOSCOW. April 21 (Interfax) - Russia is working to develop a new ecological safety strategy, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said.

"At the behest of the Russian president, relevant government executive authorities have begun drafting a new Russian ecological safety strategy for the period through 2025. It is expected to be approved as early as this year," Patrushev told reporters on Thursday.

The document will set out the goals, objectives, main areas and tools for implementing the state policy to ensure ecological safety, he said.

"The draft strategy introduces the best available technologies at the facilities which today are the worst polluters of the environment," Patrushev said.

The strategy stipulates significant reductions in the level of atmospheric air pollution, the amount of unpurified wastewater disposal and a reduction of waste from industry and consumption, he said
