Dagestan school set on fire by 'Southern' gang member - source
MAKHACHKALA. April 21 (Interfax) - Police have identified the criminal who set alight the school in the village of Dzhuli in Dagestan's Tabasaransky district, a source in local law enforcement authorities told Interfax on Thursday.
"It was established that the attack on the school was committed by Rasmin Magomedov, a local resident, born in 1995. It was also established that he is an active member of the sabotage and terrorist group called Yuzhnaya [Southern]," the source said.
A search of the suspect's house led to the discovery of an improvised bomb, which bomb disposal experts detonated in a controlled explosion, the source said.
"It was an old building," the source said. "A new school is being built nearby which is due to open this September. But in the meantime, classes were still being held at the old building," the source said.
