Armenian foreign minister calls for resumption of negotiations on Karabakh issue

YEREVAN. April 22 (Interfax) - Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian has called for overcoming the consequences of the exacerbation of the situation with Nagorno-Karabakh, which has caused a setback in the negotiations on this issue.

"A serious blow was dealt to security and stability. But one needs to think how to overcome these consequences, although there are irreparable things such as casualties. These events caused a setback in the negotiation process," Nalbandian said while opening negotiations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with the delegations present.

The Armenian foreign minister said he is hoping to discuss with Lavrov the implementation of the agreements at the top level, issues relating to the strengthening of defense potential, economic issues, and integration processes.

"We have been meeting frequently lately, there were many phone conversations; they were mainly devoted to the situation [with Nagorno-Karabkh]," Nalbandian said.
