New Kyrgyz government takes oath
BISHKEK. April 28 (Interfax) - The new Kyrgyz government of Prime Minister Sooronbai Jeenbekov took an oath at a parliamentary meeting on Thursday.
Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev attended the governmental oath ceremony in parliament, an Interfax correspondent reports.
The parliamentary administration told Interfax earlier that the Law on Government compelled the new cabinet to take the oath within two weeks since its formation, in the Jogorku Kenesh (parliament) building, and in the presence of the president and deputies.
The Prime Minister Jeenbekov Cabinet was formed on April 13, after the former Prime Minister, Temir Sariyev, stepped down, following an altercation with former Transport Minister Argynbek Malabayev over the Issyk-Kul (northern Kyrgyzstan) road construction tender.
The Kyrgyz government consists of the prime minister, the first deputy prime minister, two deputy prime ministers, the head of the governmental administration in the ministerial rank, twelve ministries and two state committees, those on security and defense. The president appoints the heads of the state committees.
