Question of Central Bank divesting Moscow Exchange stake won't arise in next few years - Shvetsov

MOSCOW. April 29 (Interfax) - The question of the Central Bank of Russia divesting its stake in the Moscow Exchange will not be raised in the next few years, Central Bank First Deputy Governor Sergei Shvetsov said during a lecture at MGIMO on Friday.

"I think that when sanctions are lifted and we make certain changes to Russian legislation, raising the influence of the regulator over exchange infrastructure, in the long-term outlook, perhaps the question of the need to continue reducing the Central Bank's stake [in the exchange] will arise. Now and in the next few years, this question is not on the agenda," Shvetsov said in response to a student's question.

The law requiring the Central Bank to divest the Moscow Exchange stake was canceled after the current geopolitical problems began, he said.

The Central Bank currently owns 11% of shares in Moscow Exchange.
