Russian, Chinese diplomats discuss Syria crisis settlement

MOSCOW. April 29 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov and Chinese government's Special Envoy for Syria Xie Xiaoyan, who is on a working trip to Moscow, discussed the political process in Syria.

"The conversation included a trusting exchange of opinions on relevant problems of the Middle East and North Africa, with an emphasis placed on issues related to the political settlement of the crisis in Syria. It was emphasized that all parties concerned must abide by the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the International Syria Support Group's collective decisions," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website.

"Based on the meeting's outcomes, the participants reaffirmed the importance of further maintaining close Russian-Chinese interaction on key issues on the regional agenda," it said.

Xie and Russian Foreign Ministry Special Envoy for the Middle East peace process and Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department Sergei Vershinin also had expanded consultations at the Russian Foreign Ministry on Thursday.
