Investigation confirms arrest of former Primorye vice governor in case of authority abuse
VLADIVOSTOK. May 4 (Interfax) - Investigative authorities have officially confirmed the arrest of former vice governor of Primorye, Oleg Yezhov, in Vladivostok.
"The former vice governor and the head of the urban development department of the Primorsky region, Oleg Yezhov, was arrested on suspicion in commission of a crime," the report of the Russian Investigative Committee's press service said.
According to the data from the investigation, the criminal case was opened upon the fact of misconduct in public office, by the officials of the urban development department of the Primorsky region, and the administration of the Primorsky region, during the payment of construction-assembly work under a government contract.
The investigators said that the contract on construction of a fire station was executed in March 2013, between the urban development department of the Primorsky region, and a commercial firm.
"The work under the government contract was not performed to the fullest extent. However, while being completely aware that the contractor had not performed the work under the contract to the fullest extent, Yezhov signed the act of the acceptance of the performed work, and ordered to handle the payment of the amount of over 24.5 million rubles, from March to December, 2013," the press service said.
Searches of the suspect's apartment, and at his former place of work, were being conducted as part of the proceedings, documents were seized.
Currently, the restrictive measures against the suspect are being chosen, the charges against him will be declared shortly.
