Peskov: Kremlin unrelated to resignation of NPO Avtomatiki head Shalimov

MOSCOW. May 5 (Interfax) - The resignation of NPO Avtomatiki General Director Leonid Shalimov has not been coordinated with Russian President Vladimir Putin: such decisions are made by the curators of the sector, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov has said.

"The president made a representation of his incompetence back at the cosmodrome, and all the rest are decisions made inside the sector by its heads and curators," he told the press.

These decisions "are not subject to coordination with the head of state," Peskov said.

The presidential press secretary was asked whether the Kremlin had authorized the resignation of Shalimov, or it had resulted from the Kremlin's instructions.

As to whether Shalimov's resignation would be followed by other reshuffles of sectoral personnel due to the first unsuccessful attempt of the launching of a Soyuz-2.1.a rocket, Peskov said, "Disciplinary reprimands have been made. This is all we can say at the moment. All of the rest, everything is about fine-tuning, should probably be asked about from the sector's curators."

The NPO Avtomatiki press service told Interfax on Thursday that General Director Shalimov had tendered his resignation.
