Emir's message to Putin concerns recent escalation of tensions in Aleppo, rescue of political settlement process - Qatari foreign minister
BOCHAROV RUCHEI (Sochi). May 6 (Interfax) - The message sent by the Qatari emir to Russian President Vladimir Putin concerns the settlement of the Syria situation, the recent escalation around Aleppo and the rescue of the political process, Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed Al-Thani has said.
"I have come here to deliver a message from his highness, the emir, which concerns regional events, with an emphasis on the Syria crisis, and the recent escalation of tensions around Aleppo," he said after negotiations with Putin.
The Qatari delegation paid the visit "for discussing ways of possible rescue of the political process and the civilian population," he said.
These are the agreements within the framework of the International Syria Support Group, he said. "This group is working to seek political solutions to the crisis in Syria so that these decisions will comply with all of the international decisions, UN Security Council resolutions, particularly 2254," the foreign minister said.
"We agreed on the need to preserve Syria's unity and territorial integrity," he also said.
