OSCE secretary general unfamiliar with new Moscow proposals regarding Minsk agreements, but hopes for dynamics in talks
KYIV. May 9 (Interfax) - Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Secretary General Lamberto Zannier said he is unfamiliar with the Moscow proposals regarding the Minsk agreements on the settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine.
In response to the relevant question from Interfax during the talks with journalists in Kyiv on Monday, Zannier said he heard that there have been new ideas. He said he has seen the statements by the Russian side that new proposals would be presented, but he has been unaware of what these proposals would contain.
Anyway, the OSCE is a mediator in the process, the OSCE secretary general said, noting that, thus, this has been a matter for the parties to the Minsk process, specifically the Ukrainian side, because each proposal would be considered in light of Ukrainian legislation and its feasibility for Donbas. Finally, this would be Kyiv's decision, he said.
Additionally, Zannier voiced hope for more constructive dynamics in the talks so that some progress could be attained quicker and these elections in Donbas would be eventually held.
