Deployment of OSCE police mission to Donbas to exacerbate regional situation - LPR head

LUHANSK. May 11 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) will not agree to the deployment of an OSCE police mission to Donbas, LPR head Igor Plotnitsky has said.

"President Poroshenko and his team should forget as soon as possible and forever the idea that the Luhansk People's Republic may agree to the deployment of a police mission to its territory, allegedly for ensuring security during local elections," Plotnitsky said in a statement published on the Luhansk information center's website on Tuesday.

Security levels in Donbas will improve after the Ukrainian side stops shelling the LPR territory, pulls back heavy weapons from the contact line, gives back the 'seized' territories in the 'gray zone' and launches an open dialogue with the conflicting sides, the LPR head stated.

"The deployment of a third armed force can only exacerbate the situation and create a platform for constant provocations of Ukrainian punishers with the sole purpose of multiplying casualties in this conflict, this time on the side of representatives of the international mission," the LPR head said in his statement.

The international community should build up pressure on the Kyiv authorities and urge them to comply with the provisions of the Minsk agreements, Plotnitsky said.

"Let me remind you that the Package of Measures does not say a word about the deployment of a peacekeeping mission to Donbas. I want to tell Kyiv that 'They that sow the wind, shall reap the whirlwind'. This whirlwind may deprive the provocateur not only of the wish but also of all ways to stage provocations," the LPR head noted.
