Inter RAO may participate in construction of plant for $2 bln in Vietnam
MOSCOW. May 16 (Interfax) - Inter RAO Group is preparing an investment application for participation in the construction of a power plant in Vietnam provisionally estimated to cost $2 billion, materials from a meeting of the Russian and Vietnamese prime ministers said.
The facility in question, Quang-Trach-2 Combined Heat and Power Plant, would have two 600-megawatt power blocks built on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis.
An Inter RAO representative told Interfax that the company has already been seeking a foreign investor for the project for about a year. "As of right now, none has been found," the representative said, noting that Inter RAO was not planning to invest its own internal resources in the project.
