ICBM tests for "missile train" scheduled in autumn of 2016 - designer
MOSCOW. May 16 (Interfax-AVN) - An intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) for a prospective combat railroad complex will be tested in the autumn of 2016, designer general of the Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology Yuri Solomonov said.
"We are planning to conduct pop-up tests this year. This test-firing will be performed with guarantee, this will be done in the fourth quarter of this year," Solomonov told reporters on Monday.
He said that these tests have been conducted to check the correctness of the implemented design engineering solutions in terms of the missile impact on components of ground-based launch equipment.
Previously, Commander of the Strategic Rocket Forces (RVSN), Col. Gen. Sergei Karakayev told reporters that Russia had been developing a new combat railroad complex, a report about the prospects of its deployment would be delivered to Russian President Vladimir Putin at the beginning of 2017.
