SCO National Coordinators Council to meet in Tashkent on May 20
TASHKENT. May 19 (Interfax) - Tashkent will host a session of the National Coordinators Council of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states on May 20-22, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said on its website on Wednesday.
"Representatives of Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will discuss the course of preparations for the SCO summit, a session of the Foreign Ministers Council in Tashkent, as well as other issues on the agenda of Uzbekistan's chairmanship of this organization," it said.
The SCO includes China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia hold observer status, while Turkey, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia and Nepal are the organization's dialogue partners.
A decision was adopted at the SCO summit in Ufa, the capital city of Russia's Bashkortostan Republic, in July 2015 to launch the accession procedure for India and Pakistan. Uzbekistan also took over the SCO chairmanship during that summit.
Tashkent will host a session of the SCO Heads of State Council on June 23-24.
