Russian Railways awaiting official proposal for railway concession in Brazil
SOCHI. May 19 (Interfax) - Russian Railways (RZD) is waiting for the publication of an official proposal for a railway concession in Brazil.
"Plans [for the possible participation in the project] are all still in place. We are waiting for the publication of their official proposal. They have done their study, it needs to be officially published for discussion and submission of a proposal," RZD senior vice president Alexander Misharin said on Thursday on the sidelines of the Russia-ASEAN business forum in Sochi.
"We are first taking a section under concession, and then building," Misharin added.
It was reported earlier that RZD International plans to participate in the $7 billion railway concession project in Brazil - operation of an 800-km section and construction of a new line. The company is also negotiating the delivery of Russian railcars and locomotives to Brazil.
