First humanitarian convoy in four years reaches Harasta in Damascus province - Russian Defense Ministry
MOSCOW. May 23 (Interfax-AVN) - UN humanitarian aid for tens of thousands of people has been brought to the populated locality of Harasta in the Syrian province of Damascus with the assistance of specialists from the Russian center for reconciliation of opposing sides in Syria, the center said in its bulletin published on the Russian Defense Ministry's website on Sunday.
"This is the first humanitarian convoy to have reached Harasta since 2012," the bulletin said.
Some 500 kilograms of humanitarian aid have been brought to a camp for internally displaced persons in the populated locality of Qattinah in the Homs province.
Representatives of another populated locality decided to join the regime of the cessation of hostilities in the past 24 hours, which increased the number of populated localities engaged in the truce to 114, the bulletin said. Negotiations on accession to the regime of the cessation of hostilities continue with field commanders of armed opposition units in the provinces of Damascus and Aleppo.
