Budapest believes NATO-Russia Council should meet before NATO summit in Warsaw - Hungarian foreign minister
BUDAPEST. May 25 (Interfax) - Budapest wants the NATO-Russia Council to convene before the NATO summit in Warsaw in July 2016, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said.
"A meeting of the NATO-Russia Council has to take place before the summer summit in Warsaw," he told reporters in Budapest on Wednesday.
The minister added that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg supports this idea.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, for his part, said the NATO-Russia Council should work on the basis of approved principles and consensus.
