Putin notes importance of visit to Greece where he intends to discuss economy, security

ATHENS. May 27 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin intends to discuss economic and international security issues with the Greek leadership.

"Indeed, we are all living through difficult times. This is both down to the economy, and to the international security issues. I think it is very important to check our clocks, talk, discuss all these issues, look for solutions," Putin said at a meeting with Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos.

It is quite important that this can be done in Greece, a country with which Russia has had deep, long-time spiritual ties, he said.

He said that he will also discuss the bilateral relations with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. "There are well-known problems, but there is something that does impress," such as the sixfold increase in the number of Russian tourists in Greece in March, for example, Putin said.

"We can do much more not only in tourism but also in other areas," he said.

"It seems to me, what is very important right now is to discuss all these issues and outline their resolution," Putin said.
