Rosatom in talks to resume removal of spent nuclear fuel from Armenian NPP
MOSCOW. May 30 (Interfax) - Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom is conducting negotiations on resuming the removal of spent nuclear fuel from the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant, Rosatom Director for Public Policy on Radioactive Waste, Spent Nuclear Fuel and Nuclear Decommissioning Oleg Kryukov told journalists in the framework of the AtomExpo 2016 conference.
Negotiations to remove spent nuclear fuel are ongoing, "but they haven't found a specific format," he said, adding that right now the fuel is being stored at the Armenian NPP itself.
Kryukov said that the last time spent nuclear fuel was removed was during Soviet times.
