RZD to continue to increase rail purchases from Evraz, Mechel in 2017
MOSCOW. May 30 (Interfax) - Russian Railways (RZD) in 2017 will continue to increase purchases of rails from Evraz and Mechel .
"The program for the purchase of rails for this year started from 640,000 tonnes, now it has risen to 850,000. RZD has shipped to practically all plants for the production of rails, Evraz and Mechel. I think that next year their shipment may be still larger," RZD President Oleg Belozerov said during an interview with Interfax.
"We have more than 20,000 kilometers of rail lines that have not been overhauled in accordance with the schedule. This is one-fourth of the railways. The situation has only begun to correct itself this year, even though the company is doing without the corresponding subsidies," Belozerov said.
