Dubai invites Russian cos to participate in green construction projects

MOSCOW. May 31 (Interfax) - The Dubai authorities are prepared to invest about $9 billion in green construction projects in the next three to four years and are inviting Russian companies to participate in these projects, the CEO of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Mohammed Al Tayer said.

Sustainable construction is intended to demonstrate the inefficiency of using obsolete methods of construction, Al Tayer told Interfax.

Speaking at a business seminar on sustainable development in Moscow, he said that DEWA plans to allocate a total of $30 billion in the next five years for sustainable economic development projects, including development of alternative energy sources.

DEWA wants to provide the Russian business and scientific communities with information about business opportunities in Dubai and is inviting Russian companies to participate in its projects, Al Tayer said.

He said Dubai expects to generate 75% of its electricity from renewable energy sources by 2030 thanks to the development of green technologies.
