Techsnabexport holding talks with Japan, Britain on decommissioning nuclear facilities

MOSCOW. June 1 (Interfax) - Techsnabexport is holding talks with Japan and Great Britain on decommissioning nuclear facilities, the head of the company's back-end department Mikhail Baryshnikov said that the Atomexpo 2016 forum.

"We are holding talks with the countries that already announced relevant plans," he said.

In particular, the elimination of the consequences of the accident at the Fukushima NPP were discussed, there are also talks about the decommissioning of the reactors, which were shut down. Six such facilities have been announced. Work will begin after 2025.

Talks with Britain concern the program for liquidating nuclear legacy facilities. There about 25 such objects.

There are also ongoing talks concerning smaller facilities, about the dealing with spent nuclear fuel.

The decommissioning of one power-generating unit of a NPP with a capacity of 1 GW is estimated at about $1.5 billion-$2 billion, Baryshnikov said.
