Russia to attend Middle East conference in Paris on June 3 - Lavrov
MOSCOW. June 2 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russia plans to attend a Middle East peace conference in Paris on June 3.
"It is important that the numerous problems facing the Middle East region should be discussed as a single set and the new acute crises should not sideline the need to resolve long-standing conflicts, primarily the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. This is the goal of Russian efforts, including our participation in the international Middle East peace conference, scheduled to take place in Paris tomorrow," Lavrov said at the start of an Orthodox Easter reception.
"Russia is sincerely interested in the Israelis and the Palestinians re-engaging in talks and resolutely embarking on the path towards a final settlement, which will bring wellbeing and development to these ancient peoples," he said.
