Kyiv reports over 15 episodes of shelling of Ukrainian troops in Donbas in past 24 hours
KYIV. June 3 (Interfax) - The adversary opened fire 17 times on positions held by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the special operation area, in southeastern Ukraine, as of 6:00 p.m. on Friday, the press service of the headquarters of the Ukrainian military operation said in a summary report, which is published every evening.
According to a report posted on Facebook networking website, the shellings took place near Maryinka and Krasnohorivka and were conducted using small arms, grenade launchers, and 82mm mortars. "Afterwards, the adversary added 122mm artillery systems. Consequently, they have damaged houses of local residents, one hostel, a technical college building and the electrical supply network," the Ukrainian headquarters said.
In the past 24 hour, anti-tank missile systems opened fire twice on the positions of Ukrainian forces near Novotroitske, it said. Apart from that, according to the headquarters, the opposing side resorted to armed provocations in the Mariupol sector, shelling Ukrainian strong points near Berezove, Shyrokyne and Hranitne, using large-caliber machineguns and various systems of grenade launchers.
Shellings conducted from automatic grenade launchers and 82mm mortars took place near Pavlopil, while in the Luhansk region, Ukrainian soldiers were shelled using automatic grenade launchers near Stanitsa Luhanska and large-caliber machineguns near Novo-Oleksandrivka, the headquarters said.
